"Space is infinite, but LEO is not. Let's work hard to preserve it for future generations."

Matthew Shouppe is a leader in technical sales and business strategy in the space industry. He specializes in commercial tools, techniques, and methodologies that enable safe and successful missions for satellite operators.

Matthew leads the Commercial Space business unit at LeoLabs, specializing in providing services and solutions to commercial satellite operators of all sizes, including the world’s largest constellations. He directs sales, business development, and go-to-market strategy for LeoLabs growing line of commercial SaaS services for enhanced space situational awareness and safety of flight.

From 2010 – 2018 he worked at a.i. solutions, leading sales for the company’s FreeFlyer space mission planning software. In this role he gained awareness of the growing threats of space debris and the challenges faced by satellite operators to navigate safely, particularly in low Earth orbit. Matthew joined LeoLabs in early 2019 to focus on these challenges full-time, and has since overseen the successful launch and scaling of the company’s commercial services including LeoLabs Tracking and Monitoring, Collision Avoidance, and Launch & Early Orbit.

Like many of his colleagues at LeoLabs, Matthew had a fascination with space from a very young age that never faded. In his spare time you can find him spending time with his wife and puppy, hiking, and learning the ropes of deep-space astrophotography. Matthew received his B.S. in Physics from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and M.S. in Engineering Physics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He is also a graduate of the International Space University (Space Studies Program 2014 in Montreal, Canada).
